Greenbrier homes are in the city’s economic center. Located close to interstate 64 with an easy access to all of hamptonroads. Greenbrier Mall, Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and Sam’s Club are all located in Greenbrier. There are many other stores and a lot of restaurants.
Greenbrier homes include single-family detached homes, townhouses, condos, and 55 and better communities. It is also home to Chesapeake City Park which hosts many events including the Chesapeake Jubilee, fireworks shows, beer and wine festivals, and has a regular farmers market during the warmer months.
Greenbrier is also home to many non-retail businesses such as Cox Communications and corporate headquarters of Dollar Tree.
Greenbrier was named after Greenbrier County West Virginia. A resident of Greenbrier County, Robert Earl Thrasher, came here in the early nineteen hundreds and bought up thousands of acres of land for his business Greenbrier Farms. Greenbrier Farms still exists, but only on a small amount of land in the Pleasant Grove section of Chesapeake.
